Making Ghee — A Silent Ritual of Clarity

Written by

Making ghee is not just a recipe. It is an alchemy. A quiet transformation.

It begins with butter and ends with gold.

At Walk and Reflect, each monthly recipe is more than food.

It is stillness on the stove. A way to return to yourself, one sound at a time.

Watch the process unfold:

Instructions

This is not a quick task.

It is a ritual to slow down with.

1. Start with two sticks of butter

Place them in a pot and turn the heat to low.

2. Let it melt gently

No stirring. No rushing. Just let it become liquid in its own time.

3. It will begin to foam

The foam will rise and fall. Let it. This is part of the process.

4. Watch as it clears

Beneath the foam, clarity begins. The liquid will shift into a golden, honey-like color. The milk solids will drift downward.

5. Wait for stillness

After about 30 to 45 minutes, the transformation is complete. Turn off the heat and let the ghee rest, cool, and settle for another 30 to 45 minutes.

6. Strain gently

Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Pour the ghee slowly into a clean glass jar.

7. Seal and store

Ghee keeps well and stays calm at room temperature. Just like you.

Reflection

Ghee is not just clarified butter.

It is a reflection of what happens when heat meets patience.

When time is given room to breathe.

This ritual reminds us:

When we stop stirring, the truth becomes clear.
